New Orleans celebrates a strong food culture and a history of diversity and is the perfect place to begin to change the face of restaurant kitchen management – one person at a time. Our mission is to give minority applicants with the aptitude and drive the opportunity to train in a world-class setting, expand their horizons and perspective and return to New Orleans to become a leader in New Orleans’ culinary scene.
TWO SCHOLARSHIPS ARE BEING OFFERED THIS YEAR! PASTRY & CULINARY. APPLICATIONS ARE NOW BEING ACCEPTED!
Chefs Move! is a yearlong fully-paid scholarship for a minority recipient from the New Orleans area to attend culinary school at The French Culinary Institute in New York City and to return to New Orleans after graduation.
The Chefs Move! scholarship includes the following:
- tuition
- uniforms
- equipment
- housing
- travel to and from New York
- job placement assistance while in New York
- and a paid 8-week internship with a Besh Restaurant Group restaurant after school
The scholarship also includes a mentor for the beneficiary: The first year’s mentor was Chef John Besh and the mentor for the next Chefs Move! beneficiary is Chef Brian Landry of Borgne Restaurant.
